River Watch Community Science Volunteer
Position Description: Once per month commitment on the first Wednesday of the month to collect a stream sample and process those samples back at one of two lab spaces on the County. The time commitment is between 3 to 5 hours depending on number of sites sampled and efficiency of sample processing.
Position Purpose: Monitoring Summit Counties rivers and streams to provide publicly avialable data around water quality. After the training, groups agree to sample at a designated station monthly for metals, nutrients, and other parameters. As water quality data must be recorded over time to understand the baseline conditions and any changes that occur in the system, we are seeking volunteers that can make a several-year commitment to the program.
